This is a complex shaped moulding that was developed to produce a structure stiff enough to take the large loads that come into play in an A Class yacht. As usual the opportunity need to provide housing for the rc has been exploited to add stiffness.
It is similar in style to 311b/c with a slight recess for the kicking strap and a slight positive camber for the mast position. These features lower the centre of effort of the rig while increasing the mainsail luff length and lead to a slight performance increase. There is a large, deep tray which will stiffen the deck and fin box and in which to mount the rc gear. The deck extends forward far enough for the headsail sheet attachment and aft far enough for the main sheet post trunking. A pot recess moulding, item 311d, can be added easily to this deck unit if it is important to have access to the rc gear in this way rather than via a self adhesive patch.
